STATE COLLEGE — The State College High School golf team hosted the fifth annual Happy Valley Invitational Golf Tournament on Thursday, Aug. 7, at the Penn State Blue and White Golf Courses.
Girls and boys teams from across the state took part in the event, including ones from State College, Philipsburg-Osceola, Bellefonte and Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy from Centre County.
There were 23 boys teams in the 3A Team Tournament, which was won by Radnor High School from District 1 with a score of 4-over 292. Radnor’s No. 1 player, Lannon Boyd, shot a 7-under 65 and finished first in the 3A Individual Tournament.
State College 1 and Spring Ford finished in a tie for second place at 11-over 299. State College’s Jacky Sun led the Little Lions with a 1-over 73 while Brady Wager shot 74, Charlie Ladrido 75 and Luke Ladrido 75.

Fox Chapel and Indiana rounded out the top five in the standings.
Bellefonte finished in 21st place with a 368 total.
In the 3A Individual Tournament, Carson Kittsley from Fox Chapel came in second behind Boyd with a 6-under 66 and teammate David DiGregory was third with a 5-under 67.
State College’s Sun placed 12th and Wager came in at 16.
The 2A Boys Tournament was won by Cathedral Prep with an even-par 288, while Fairview was second at 290 and North East was third at 305.
The State College 2 team came in fifth place with a 315 and was led by Alex Hoskins and Lyle Rioux, who both shot 1-over 73.
SJCA entered a coed team and it came in at No. 9 in the 2A’s. Olivia Koshko shot 77 and Haden Lingle had a 78 for the WolfPack.
The Philipsburg-Osceola Mounties did not finish the event because of a sick player, but the Mounties’ Jake Lucas shot a team-best 78 and was
In the 2A Individuals, Alex Talmadge from West Shamokin took honors with a 4-under 68 while Santino Washburn was second with a 3-under 69.

Hoskins from SC was seventh, Rioux was ninth, P-O’s Lucas was 21st and Lingle from SJCA was 22nd.
The 3A Girls Tournament was won by McDowell with a 245, while Peters Township was second and Radnor third.
Ellie Benson took first place with a 1-over 73 in the 3A Individual Tournament.
In the 2A Girls’ Team Tournament, Fairview took first place, followed by West Middlesex, Mercyhurst Prep, Hazleton and Cathedral Prep.
State College came in ninth and Philipsburg-Osceola finished 11th.
The State College girls were led by Kate Wheeler, while P-O’s Maddyx Hampton shot an 88 and finished 12th in the 2A Individuals.
The tournament’s best score of the day was turned in by West Middlesex Kate Sowers, who shot an 8-under 64. Sowers scored 33-31 and did not have a 5 on her scorecard.
The Tournament was again a great success, in which 44 schools and over 280 golfers took part.
